I have been an artist since I could hold a pencil.
Mr. King, my infamous elementary school art teacher, was the highlight of my early years. In high school I took as many art classes a year as I could get away with.
College waited until my mid 20s, after my third daughter had been born. Despite the educational hiatius, I found myself creating art through my sewing machine by way of quilts and clothing for my children. It was here that my love of functional art began. Art that could roll in the mud, comfort my three girls, and survive a family snuggle.
It took me 10 years to get my BFA in Art Education. It was worth every minute of it.
At the age of 30 I finally had my own class. At a small urban high school in Conneticut I developed a printmaking and books arts curriculum while implementing an Advanced Placement Portfolio class.
Over 20 years later I am engaged and pushed by my students as much as the first day I stepped into the classroom. Together we continue to learn about art and explore the power it has to influence the world.
I hope you enjoy my shop and if you have any questions about my art please feel free to drop me a note.
